Ralph Wilson was born in Brisbane, Queensland in 1955 and originally studied architecture, but has been a professional artist since 1976. He was awarded the prestigious Camberwell Rotary Travelling Scholarship in 1983 which enabled him to travel to London, Paris and New York and led on to working in Italy in both 1986 and 1990.
An accomplished yachtsman also, Ralph often portrays areas such as Moreton Island, Fraser Island and landscapes from the water and has an ability to capture the play of sunlight upon water and sand dunes to evoke many moods. He is equally able to depict a simple still life setting with grace and yet impact.
