Martin Lee Cropper was born in Rotherham, Yorkshire in 1958, and came to Australia with his family in 1967.
From 1976-77 he did a course in Graphic Design at Perth Technical College. Martin had his first solo exhibition in 1987 at Gallery Australia in Perth, paving the way for a string of successful shows in the late 80s and early nineties.
After a sell-out exhibition in 1988 Martin and his partner Deborah were able to purchase a block of land in Bridgetown, a small town in the south-west of Western Australia, realising a long-held dream of living a peaceful, self-sufficient life in the country.
